It is Fredriksstad Blad which reports on the layoffs at Jøtul’s production at Kråkerøy in Fredrikstad municipality.

– From 3 January, all employees in production, around 60 employees, are 100 per cent laid off, says Anette Johansen, club leader of the Støperilkubben at Jøtul, to the newspaper.

Jøtul CEO Nils Agnar Brunborg tells Fredriksstad Blad that “there are several reasons” for the layoffs.

– Among other things, development in Norway has more or less come to a complete halt, which means that fewer people are moving. And then people spend less money per day. Sales exploded last year, and we built up the stocks in anticipation of a new high season this autumn. But it never came, he explains the newspaper.

The duration of the layoffs is referred to as “until further notice”.

Jøtul writes on its website that it has around 600 employees.
