Josko Guardiol transfers from RB Leipzig to Manchester City, who will pay a record 90 million euros. The Croatian defender will become the second most expensive signing of the Citizens, the most expensive sale of a Bundesliga club and at the same time the most expensive defender in the world…
The 21-year-old stopper signed for the reigning English champions until 2028 and replaced Harry Maguire as the most expensive defender, whom Manchester United acquired from Leicester City for 87 million euros four years ago. The exchange rate change was included in this price.
The Dinamo Zagreb native leaves Leipzig after two years, during which he played 87 competitive matches with five goals and three assists. Guardiol won the German Cup twice with Leipzig and helped to advance to the semi-finals of the Europa League in the 2021/22 season.

Man City have made their second summer signing after midfielder Mateo Kovačić from Chelsea. Conversely, Ilkay Gündogan (Barcelona) and Riyad Mahrez (Al-Ahli SFC) left the reigning Premier League champion.
Leipzig sold another strong support during this transfer window – Dominik Szoboszlai moved to Liverpool and Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea. The Bundesliga club collected an astronomical 220 million euros for the aforementioned trio, excluding bonuses.
