Josh Cavallo reveals: I’m a footballer and I’m gay – Ferver

Josh Cavallo, a player for Adelaide United in Australia, is the latest footballer (and one of the few) to publicly admit his homosexuality. At 21, the midfielder revealed that he had kept his sexual orientation a secret for more than six years out of fear of being prevented from living his dream of becoming a professional player. “I’m a footballer and I’m gay. I struggled with my sexuality for over six years, and I’m glad this matter was resolved. Growing up, I always felt the need to hide, because I was ashamed. Ashamed of not being able to do what I do. I love and be gay. To hide who I really am, to pursue a child’s dream,” he declared through a very emotional video shared on the social network Twitter.

With this revelation, Cavallo hopes to open up mentalities and help other players in the sport to live their sexuality without fear of being discriminated against. “I want to help change this, to show that everyone is welcome in football, and that they deserve the right to be who they really are. I hope this will change in the near future,” he concluded.

The former Real Madrid and Barcelona striker now risks going to prison.

Escapes from prison after disobedience
The Madrid Court yesterday suspended the execution of the sentence of 6 months in prison imposed on Frenchman Lucas Hernández, who plays for Bayern Munich, for violating a restrictive measure due to domestic violence. The 25-year-old ace was convicted of violating the court order that forced him to be away from his partner (with whom he has a relationship). The case dates back to 2017 and the decision was extended to both.
