Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen recently shared intimate details about his heartwarming proposal to singer and actress Hailee Steinfeld.
The couple, who announced thier engagement in late November, gave fans a glimpse into the special moment through SteinfeldS Beau Society newsletter, where Allen participated in a Q&A about the proposal.
Allen recounted a humorous anecdote about the morning of the proposal. “The funniest thing was that we woke up and were getting ready for brunch and you jumped on the bed and said, ‘Can we get married already?!? What are you waiting for??!’” he wrote, as reported by E! News. “I replied, ‘Just give me a little more time.’ Little did you know I was about to propose to you.”
Despite his cool exterior, Allen admitted to feeling anxious about keeping the surprise under wraps. ”I think I was most nervous about you finding out about the proposal,” he confessed. “It was hard to keep secrets from you and have other people in your life keep secrets from you. Multiple times throughout the day, a song would come on and I would tear up thinking about how special our day was going to be.”
To calm his nerves,Allen meticulously memorized his proposal speech.“I said I couldn’t wait any longer,” he recalled. “I said I can’t wait to start a family with you. I said your full name, and I asked you very nicely. I said please.”
“I didn’t blow it nor did anyone else,” Allen continued. “You were extremely surprised, you said yes, and that was all that mattered to me.”
Steinfeld, 27, echoed Allen’s sentiments, revealing that the emotions of the proposal still linger. “All the happy tears have just barely dried,” she wrote. “Whenever we tell the story,look back at photos,or even say ‘We’re engaged’ or ‘We’re getting married’ I start crying.”
