Former Odisha FC coach Gombau has been appointed as the coach of English Premier League club Aston Villa’s under-21 team. He came as the head coach of the under-21 team. Gombau was the coach of Odisha last season. After he left Odisha, he was with Indonesian club Persebeya.
The 47-year-old coach has coached Odisha in two stints. Gompau was initially with Odisha/Delhi Dynamos from 2018 to 2020. He was the academy coach of Barcelona for six years before.
Joseph Gombau was also the co-coach of the Australian national team in 2016-17. He has also coached the Australian Under-23 team. He has also worked for Kichi, Adelaide United and Espanyol youth team.
