The partnership between Morocco and the European Union is “more important than ever in the current geopolitical context”, affirmed the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borell.
The strengthening of this strategic partnership was at the center of a meeting on Wednesday between Mr. Borrell and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita.
“We discussed how to give new impetus to the EU-Morocco partnership, more important than ever in the current geopolitical context,” the head of European diplomacy said on his X account on Thursday.
MM. Bourita and Borrell also discussed several bilateral and regional issues.
Morocco and the EU, it will be recalled, launched on June 27, 2019 in Brussels the “Euro-Moroccan Partnership for Shared Prosperity”, a statutory framework which governs bilateral relations centered around four structuring spaces. It is an area of convergence of values, an area of economic convergence and social cohesion, an area of shared knowledge and an area of political consultation and increased cooperation in security matters, and two fundamental axes of a horizontal nature , which will also be the subject of specific operational actions, namely cooperation on the environment and the fight against climate change and cooperation on mobility and migration, which will reinforce each other.
