On Wednesday, singer and actor Josef Zíma celebrates an incredible 90 years. The lavish celebrations have begun in the previous days and will continue. He will even have a concert on Sunday, which he is already looking forward to. He told TV Nova how he manages it all.
Czech actor, drummer, singer and moderator Josef Zíma has reason to rejoice. It is celebrating its 90th birthday. He was nicknamed the King of Brass Bands, but he didn’t live much with that nickname. He says of himself that he is not the king of anything and just likes to sing. “I’m a little sorry that people put me on the brass band. I have it in me, but that doesn’t mean that I have resented other genres,” TV Nova Zíma told TV.
Even in his 90s, Winter is still vital. “I’m still working, driving, singing, they always bring me or transport me to the microphone, and then it goes there,” says the singer with exaggeration.
He still gives concerts and always has a precise program in mind that awaits him. “I don’t have spectators and listeners, so I’d rather not be here. I don’t have a cure for longevity and I’m terribly surprised, we don’t have much longevity in the family. But hearing, sight, memory, everything changes,” Zíma laughed.
On Sunday, a concert at the U Hasičů Theater awaits him as part of his birthday celebrations, where guests such as Yvetta Simonová, Pavlína Filipovská and the Karel Vlach Orchestra will perform. Winter is said to be looking forward to the concert.
People associate his acting career mainly with the role of Prince Radovan from the fairy tale The Princess with the Golden Star on His Forehead, where he shone alongside Marie Kyselková.
