The former president of Uruguay Jose Mujica (2010-2015) announced in a press conference that he has a tumor in his esophagus.
“I need to inform you that last Friday I went to the (hospital center) Fall to have a check-up in which it was discovered that I have a tumor in the esophagus, which is obviously very serious and is doubly complex in my case, because I have been suffering from an immunological disease for more than 20 years,” he reported. He added that this affected – among other things – his kidneys, which creates “obvious difficulties” for chemotherapy or surgical techniques.
“The doctors are evaluating all of this, doing cellular analysis, how this story continues. I want to convey to you that in my life more than once the grim reaper was hanging around the cot, but it continued to shepherd me all these years,” emphasized the former president, who pointed out that this time we will have to see what happens.
