AS Roma was hailed as one of the favorites to win Europa League. Jose Mourinho cool with that notion.
Roma have reached the semi-finals of the Europa League and face Bayern Leverkusen. The other semifinal brings Juventus to Sevilla.
A number of betting exchanges place Roma as the favorite in this competition. The existence of Jose Mourinho is considered to be an advantage for the Giallorossi.
However, Mourinho did not bother with the assumption that Roma are the favourites.
“I’m not interested in superstitions, the betting market, or being considered a favourite,” said Mourinho as reported by Football Italia.
“What I’ve been saying for 20 years is if you get to the semi-finals you have a 25 per cent chance of winning and a 50 per cent chance of getting to the final. That’s how I feel.”
Roma will travel to Leverkusen headquarters at BayArena in the second leg of the Europa League semifinals, Friday (19/5/2023) early morning WIB. Paulo Dybala et al armed with a 1-0 win in the first leg.
“I don’t know how the game will turn out, it’s hard to predict. What we want to do is get to the final, but we don’t know if it will be decided in 90 minutes, extra time or penalties, but there is still a long way to go and with a 1-0 lead, even if Bayer or Roma score goals, you still can’t guess where the game is going. It’s going to be a long game,” said Mourinho.
