Injury trouble and reluctance on the part of trading partners has so far slowed down José Mourinho’s plan in a new club.
Roma and coach José Mourinho need a new left-back after long-term injury Leonardo Spinazzola (28) suffered in the European Championship with the champions Italy.
Talks have therefore been started with Mourinho’s old club Manchester United. Mourinho was hoping to pick up United’s second choice behind Luke Shaw in the position, Alex Telles (28), on a loan deal for the rest of the season.
That proposal was flatly rejected by United, who would rather sell the Brazilian, according to Italian Sky Sport.

May end up with rival
The TV channel wonders whether Telles can instead end up in Inter, which has made several successful deals with Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s club in recent seasons. Telles has also played a season at Inter earlier, in 2015-2016, on loan from Galatasaray.
Also the champion team from Serie A, and the new coach coach Simone Inzaghi, are chasing reinforcements. Among other things, Achraf Hakimi was sold to Paris Saint-Germain and Ashley Young lost for free to Aston Villa.
United’s no to Telles’ request is a new line in Mourinho’s bill after Spinazzola’s unbelievable Achilles injury. The Portuguese coach profile has pointed out that he needs new players to get a turn on his project in Rome.
“Giallorossi” only finished as number seven on the table in Serie A last season. It separated a full 15 points up to a place among the top five.

– First I will wait for some gifts to be sent here. I hope the board and Tiago Pinto have some gifts for me. That would be nice, Mourinho told the club’s website, right after he started working.
– It will help me and give me the best chance to develop the number of players in the starting phase.
Limited «gift sprinkle»
Mourinho received his first “gift” earlier this week from the Roma leadership, when goalkeeper and compatriot Rui Patrício (33) arrived at the club from Wolverhampton.
It has also been reported that the Romans are negotiating with Arsenal to buy free Swiss Granit Xhaka (28). Ahead of the European Championships, it was claimed that the difference between Rome’s bid and Arsenal’s price requirements was around NOK 60 million.
Whether the Roma coach gets several significant reinforcements to work with remains to be seen.

There are probably also some players on their way out of Mourinho’s squad this summer. Sky Sport in Italy claims that the Portuguese has told as many as eight players to train elsewhere than during his sessions with the team.
Among these should be profiled names like Justin Kluivert, Pedro, Stevn Nzonzi and Robin Olsen.
PS: According to the Daily Mail, it is expected that Manchester United will send a third alternative they have on the left back on loan next season. Brandon Williams (20) should be close to a transfer to Southampton, who have lost Ryan Bertrand to Leicester.
