The Italian newspaper ‘Tuttosport’ reports that José Mourinho wants to reinforce Roma’s defense in January with the signing of Eric Dier. The 29-year-old English international is going through a difficult time at Tottenham, as he has not yet been used by coach Ange Postecoglou this season.
Dier, who has been with Spurs for almost 10 years and did much of his training at Sporting, could find a new career path under the leadership of a coach he knows well. He was one of Mourinho’s trusted men during the Portuguese coach’s time at Tottenham and was used regularly in the eleven by the coaches that followed, until Postecoglou’s arrival.
The player wants to play more regularly, so that he can be included in Gareth Southgate’s choices for Euro’2024 and moving to Serie A could be the solution.
The truth is that Tottenham are having a surprising season, when compared to previous ones. Spurs currently lead the Premier League, in partnership with Arsenal, with six wins and two draws.
