This Thursday, José Mourinho did not hold back in criticizing his players after another defeat, this time in the 4th round of the Europa League group stage in the Czech Republic, against Slavia Prague (2-0). At the end of the match, the Portuguese coach made a point of showing his displeasure, stressing that his team “lacked everything”.
“What was missing? Everything. The result is well deserved. I didn’t like anything. I already spoke to the players in the dressing room, something I normally don’t do. The team played so poorly that I don’t even want to make excuses. From an individual point of view, they were There were few players who had the right attitude. Many didn’t have the right approach to a serious game, I’m sorry about that. Today we were horrible, we deserved to lose. The only one who didn’t deserve to lose was [Edoardo] Bove”, he began by mentioning, quoted by ‘Corriere dello Sport’.
And he continued: “I can’t explain this defeat. I want to be honest: it was a deserved victory for them and a deserved defeat for us. I liked Bove’s attitude and seriousness, I liked him a lot. The others? I prefer to speak directly to them.”
Despite the team’s poor performance, Mourinho did not hesitate and took responsibility: “We didn’t do anything, nothing. They [Slavia Praga] They played like they did in the first game, but at the time they couldn’t do better because we were there. We did all the basic things wrong. Who is to blame? Me. I have to accept that”, he concluded.
Roma remains in 2nd place in Group G of the Europa League with 9 points, the same as the leader, Slavia Prague itself. Servette is 3rd, with 4, while Sheriff, from Moldova, is last with just 1 point added.
