Team manager Jose Mourinho from the English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur looked back on his time with the Spanish record champions Real Madrid and made a tearful confession.
“I only cried once after a defeat in my career: after losing to Bayern Munich in the 2012 Champions League semi-final,” said Mourinho in an interview with the Spanish sports newspaperMarca.
Real had failed at the time on penalties in front of a home crowd at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu at the Munich. With Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Sergio Ramos, three of the royal superstars had shot down. “Cristiano, Kaka and Sergio are football monsters, there is no doubt about that. But they are only human,” said the 57-year-old Portuguese.
When he got home after the bankruptcy, he sat in the car with his assistant Aitor Karanka for minutes and cried bitterly. “It was damn hard because we were the best team in Spain and Europe at the time. We should have earned this title,” said The Special One, who won the Handle Cup in 2004 with FC Porto and in 2010 with Inter Milan.
