Jose K. Mani is ready to demand thirteen seats in the Left Front

Jose K. Mani is ready to demand thirteen seats in the Left Front. The Kerala Congress M move is to contest six seats in Kottayam district. The steering committee will meet in Kottayam tomorrow for discussions.

Jose K. Mani’s move to secure seats in the Left Front came after Mani C Kappan started campaigning as a UDF candidate in Pala. 13 seats are required. In Kottayam district, all the six seats contested last time are claimed. Apart from Pala, Poonjar, Kanjirapally, Changanassery, Kaduthuruthy and Ettumanoor will also be requested. Angamaly or Perumbavoor wanted in Ernakulam district. Apart from Perambra in Kozhikode district, Thiruvambadi also has eyes. The party wants Ranni, Iringalakuda, Thodupuzha, Idukki and Kuttanad seats.

Jose K. Mani may be seen in Pala. The MLAs themselves will contest in Idukki and Kanjirapally, the sitting seats. In Changanassery, Job Michael and Vijay Jose Marret, a Youth Front leader with close ties to the NSS, are being considered.

But in Changanassery, the Democratic Kerala Congress and the CPI are in the fray. If Ettumanoor, the current CPM sitting seat, becomes available, Stephen George will be the priority. Last time, Kerala Congress M contested in 15 seats in the UDF. Six of these were successful. Jose K. Mani is pushing for a seat, citing the progress he has made in the local elections.

The steering committee will meet in Kottayam tomorrow to discuss the election. This is the first time that the Kerala Congress M Steering Committee has met after the Central Election Commission approved the selection of Jose K. Mani as its chairman.
