As a shyster, in addition to my office –and like many other colleagues–, I serve as a public defender. It is a noble and mistreated function that consists, for those who do not know it, in making the constitutional right to judicial protection really effective for the citizen. That is, no one who falls into the misfortune of being involved in a mess is left without protection because they do not have money to pay a lawyer. And it is a mistreated work on the part of all the public powers (who demand its operation) and by the citizen himself who requires these services. But that is another issue.
