JC – “It was to have met the ghosts of Maison Fairview, on rue Gamelin, when I was chosen to participate in the Fantastic Residence. It is normally used to house [un auteur provenant de France], but the guest, Pierre Cendors, was never able to leave France, so [on m’a permis de l’investir]. It is a magical place! Me, I live a 3 and a half … and there, I had three floors for me, the whole month of November from 2 to 27. Lise Careau [l’écrivaine en résidence de la Ville de Gatineau], who had been there the previous month, had warned me that there were ghosts. Well, yeah ! It was great: I let them fit into my pen and into my body, to help me tell my stories. The ghosts were all naked, with no outlines, so I couldn’t see them and I don’t know how many there were, but they told me their lives. I loved these ectoplasms. No one is going at the Fairview House; [pourtant], they need people to talk to. Do I believe in ghosts? The important thing is not that I believe in it, but that they believe in me, and in my literary capacities … For human warmth, I was in touch [via Internet] with Pierre Cendors: the friendship grabbed in the computer. […] There is magic even in virtual meetings sometimes. “
