Dr. Dimitrov refused to be asked more questions during the court hearing, after telling again the details of what happened in his house on March 2, 2018, when a thief entered his home, a reporter told Plovdiv24.bg.
“I sincerely regret what happened, I didn’t want to kill him in any way. I acted instinctively, under stress, to protect my life.” This was said today during the court session in the District Court by Dr. Ivan Dimitrov, accused of the murder of Joro Dzhevizov, who broke into his house to steal.
“He was too aggressive, there was a danger of me being seriously injured. Many times I was asked what it was like to shoot a thief. I was defending my life. He was getting more and more aggressive because I shot at him, I just woke up a beast in him,” he said. Dr. Dimitrov.
He said that it was not until the next day that he learned that he had hit the thief by investigators. After inspecting the area around his house, together with his friend, on the fateful night and after not finding any traces of Dzhevizov, and seeing him walking away on Sixth of September Blvd., he decided that the thief All this time he didn’t know he had hit him.
However, he decided to get rid of the pistol Walter, which he illegally possessed, by wrapping it in a green plastic bag and throwing it away. “I thought the shots were loud and one of the neighbors might have heard, so he decided to get rid of him,” said Dr. Dimitrov. Dr. Dimitrov continues to claim that he saw a second person with his peripheral vision, which caused him to call a friend with whom they walked around the house, but found nothing and no one else. He claims that he did not aim at the thief, but shot instinctively. During this time, Dzhevizov cursed and shouted “Gyaur is dirty, I will kill you.” His whole behavior was like that of a drugged man, as he was not afraid of the first shot the doctor made in the air to scare him. On the contrary, he then became even more aggressive.
The testimony of Nadezhda Stoeva – the woman with whom the deceased lived on a family basis – was read before the court panel. After Dr. Dimitrov refused to be asked questions, the lawyer and the prosecutor requested that the physical evidence be presented. The judge said that they are not in court, but are with the host of 2 RUs and must be brought. Therefore, a break was given until 13.30.
The court will probably rule today. The case provoked a number of protests from Plovdiv residents and throughout the country, in defense of Dr. Dimitrov, who acted under conditions of personal protection.
