The large Intermaché surface in Gândara, in Leiria, was closed today, after two positive cases of Covid-19 were detected.
According to Gonçalo Lopes, Mayor of Leiria, one of the Intermaché employees located in Gândara, in the Marrazes and Barosa Parish Union, in Leiria, tested positive for Covid-19 “a week ago”.
“Now, another person has tested positive, so the establishment has been closed and tests are being carried out on all employees and the site is being disinfected”, reveals the mayor.
The president points out that “none of the other employees showed any symptoms” of the disease.
“We will wait for the results of the other employees to define the respective strategies for controlling this situation”, he concluded.
According to today’s bulletin from the District Civil Protection Commission of Leiria, the county has recorded 181 cases (1 more than yesterday) and 156 recovered (7 more in the last 24 hours).
In Leiria there are two deaths, with 23 active cases (6 less than yesterday). The municipality ranks second in number of infected, behind Alcobaça (45) and ahead of Caldas da Rainha (13), which, a month ago, was at the top of the table.
