Mathijsen showed solidarity with the trainer and stated that he was unable to implement the decision. After careful consideration, the Supervisory Board also decided to get rid of Mathijsen.

sport">Mathijsen previously opposed the departure of Erwin van de Looi, who decided to resign from his position under pressure from supporters’ campaigns. Last season he decided to get rid of Adrie Koster under enormous pressure.
