Chelsea midfielder Jorginho’s agent has reportedly revealed his ‘priority’ is to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Jorginho has just one year left on his current contract and has been linked with a return to Serie A this summer, with Juventus among the teams interested in the Italian Euro 2020 winner.
His agent Joao Santos, however, said his client wanted to sign a new contract with the club.
“Chelsea is the priority,” Santos told Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb.
“His contract will expire in 2023, I think we will talk about the renewal from September.”
His comments come after he previously told the same publication in March that there were “four or five” Serie A clubs he could play for.
Santos said at the time: “Playing in Serie A is a dream for him and his heart remains here.
“As things stand, he could play for four or five clubs: Milan, Inter, Juve, Roma or Napoli.”
Santos, however, said he would start working with Chelsea on a renewal after the World Cup.
Chelsea will be keen to sort out their situation and avoid a repeat loss of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, both free at the end of their contracts this summer.
Rudiger has signed for Real Madrid, while Christensen joins Clasico rivals Barcelona.
Rudiger has signed for Real Madrid, while Christensen joins El Clasico rivals Barcelona.
Jorginho joined Chelsea for £50million in 2018 and made 188 appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals.
His role in helping the Blues win the Champions League last year, as well as the European Championships with Italy, saw him finish third in the latest Ballon d’Or standings behind Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski .
The 2021-22 season has been more frustrating, however, with its most disappointing moment being Italy’s failure to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
