Jørgen’s interpretation of the Bruce Springsteen song “Dancing In the Dark” is currently trending on YouTube and is in 12th place on Spotify’s Top 50 list.
– Completely surreal
When TV 2 calls Jørgen to hear if the success has sunk in the short time since the premiere, a happy and humble man answers.
– It is completely surreal and strange. I do not think I understand what is happening. But it’s incredible stasis, says the 25-year-old.
He says that he was nervous about watching himself on TV , and it therefore took some time before he was able to watch the premiere. When he finally saw it, it was both scary and fun, but he can tell that the feedback has been the best.
– I have received so many incredible and nice feedback, everywhere. It means a lot.
Jørgen is currently trending on YouTube, and His audition has been seen just under 145,000 times. In addition, he is in 12th place on Spotify’s Top 50 list.
Several of the YouTube comments are also from abroad, where Jørgen is praised for his interpretation of the song and the voice.
Someone should point this out to “The Boss” (ref. Bruce Springsteen). I think he had tears in his eyes from both this version and the singing voice “, writes one in English during the YouTube video .
Jørgen was one of the singers who managed to get all the mentors to turn around, and they therefore had to fight to get him on their team. His choice ultimately fell on Ina Wroldsen (36), something he is very happy with.
– It is a great pleasure to work with Ina. I think she is a really cool and inspiring lady. Strong and honest, something I really appreciate, he brags.
Former winner of the Melodi Grand Prix Junior
Jørgen is also not completely foreign to being on stage, and can reveal that music has been a passion all his life.
– I have been on stage a lot, at least at a younger age, you could say, the 25-year-old reveals.
In 2009 he won the Melodi Grand Prix junior with the song «Your own way». Despite this, he admits that it does not feel like part of who he is today.
In a few seconds, things will go wrong for Matoma
– It really feels like another era in life – a whole lifetime ago. I’ve grown a lot since then, so I don’t think about it that much.
Even though the 25-year-old already has a victory under his belt in music Norway, he sees the Voice experience as a challenge.
– I wanted to challenge myself to do something I initially did not think I would dare to do, he says.
Will make a living from music
When TV 2 asks Jørgen what the big dream is, there is little doubt in the promising talent.
– I want to be able to make a living from my own music, and to be able to reach as many people as possible – that has always been the goal, he explains.
Jørgen can tell that the overwhelming response has given him confidence as he was very nervous before his first appearance.
– I only experience positive feedback from friends, family and strangers. I feel that people treat me to success, which feels incredibly big. It is simply just support to get, and that is what I need, the 25-year-old explains.
He also wants to thank everyone who has sent him nice feedback over the last few days, and emphasized that this means a lot to him.
– I do not know how to get enough thanks to those who listen to my music. Even if it’s just words, I just want to say a big thank you to everyone, he concludes.
