Jorge Vilda has found a new job a month after his dismissal as national coach of the Spanish football players. The Spaniard has signed a four-year contract with the Moroccan association, where he will take charge of the women’s team.

The 42-year-old national coach became world champion with Spain last summer, but sixteen days later he was on the street.

After winning the World Cup final, major unrest broke out within the Spanish federation due to president Luis Rubiales’ kiss on Jennifer Hermoso’s mouth during the awards ceremony.

Vilda was considered an ally of Rubiales. But he was also controversial before the World Cup.

For example, a year earlier, fifteen international players threatened to no longer want to play for the national team as long as he was at the helm. They were unhappy about the handling of injuries, the atmosphere in the dressing room and Vilda’s selection policy and training. In the end, most of them went to the tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

Successor Pedros

Vilda is Reynald Pedros’ successor at Morocco. He had guided the Moroccan football players to a World Cup for the first time and even survived the first round with the team. But after two recent defeats in friendly matches against Zambia, Pedros was forced to leave the field.
