Jorge Salomón, president of the Fenafuth: ‘Money is not for team debts’

The National Autonomous Federation of Soccer of Honduras (Fenafuth), held a virtual press conference, where he explained how the million dollars allocated by the Fifa due to the coronavirus pandemic and supplemental aid and $ 500,000 for women’s soccer if countries manage it.

“Fifa aid is for new things, not for equipment debt. The distribution is not yet to see what we have and to decide how these funds are going to be managed and so that the National League and the Ascension League can start, “said Jorge Salomón, president of Fenafuth.

And he added: “The money is to reactivate football, for things that happened after March. We must make that clear because it is not for things before March and they are right.”

Fifa money

The League on June 9 presented a report to the Government of Honduras where it expects the help of 30 million lempiras to launch the Apertura 2020 tournament.

The leader commented that the Federation will seek access to funds for women’s football, but made it clear that there are other needs.

“We will discuss it with Fifa because we have other needs apart from women’s football, we will see if we will apply to those funds, football in the First and Second Division has to be activated.”

The Federation also confirmed that Honduras will not play on the October Fifa dates. and November due to the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic in the country.
