Jorge Masvidal fell short against Colby Covington at UFC 272, but he managed to land some tasty shots on his bitter rival and thinks he could do better next time around.

As the main event between the two was billed as the ultimate bad blood contest, Covington cleverly used his struggle to suppress his rival and wear him down for later rounds.

Masvidal looked the better striker, but rarely had the chance to show it

When Gamebred finally landed an important shot in the fourth round that put Covington on one knee, but he couldn’t capitalize on the moment because he was so exhausted.

There was no denying that Masvidal hurt him, though.

Alongside a photo of his reverse punch where Covington’s face looks rearranged, Masvidal tweeted, “Far from done. I’ll be back. »

The 37-year-old still has options in the UFC. His name value has skyrocketed after his incredible run in 2019 and the BMF champion can still put up big fights despite a three-fight losing streak.

Street Jesus believes he will fight his way back to Covington and get another chance to take out his former best friend by finishing off other fighters.

But that doesn’t mean ‘Chaos’ didn’t hurt his opponent with his fists either.

” Absoutely; I’m going to go win it by knocking out other people,” he said.

“Finally, I will put myself in front of him, in front of [welterweight champion Kamaru] Usman.

“Right now I’m nowhere near that, probably two or three fights away from that.

“But I like the work, I like to fight. So as long as I can still manage in the gym, I’ll be back there.

Rumors have started circulating that Masvidal could become Conor McGregor’s returning opponent this summer.

McGregor was initially deemed too small to fight welterweight contender by UFC boss Dana White, but Masvidal himself says he saw McGregor in Dublin and he is now confident they could fight at 170 pounds.
