The Ducati Lenovo team had two chances to recruit Martin, namely in 2022 and 2024. But unfortunately, in 2022 Ducati Lenovo chose Bastianini over Martin. Then in 2024, the manufacturer from Borgo Panigale got rid of Martin to make room for Marc Marquez.
A disappointed Martin eventually chose to leave the factory team, Aprilia Racing. Yes, Martin wants to protect the factory team in MotoGP. When he did not get that opportunity at Ducati Lenovo, Martin did not hesitate to move to another brand, while he was in the factory team.

Now that Martin has shown great achievements at the end of his journey with satellite team Ducati Pramac Racing, do Ducati bosses regret their decision not to bring Martin to the factory team?
Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi said that Ducati had to make a difficult decision at the expense of Martin and Pramac Racing. In addition, Tardozzi firmly said that Ducati will still be the favorite to win next season, even if Martin is not in their squad.
“Ducati has a ‘great four’ this year as there are four Ducati riders in first, second, third and fourth place in this championship,” said Tardozzi in an interview with fall.
“Of course, unfortunately, we had to make decisions, very difficult decisions to make. And in the end we took them and unfortunately Martin and Enea had to leave Ducati because they preferred motorcycles from other manufacturers,” said Tardozzi.
Losing Martin and Bastianini, as well as the Pramac Racing team who will be moving to Yamaha next season, is indeed a shame for Ducati. Nevertheless, Ducati has to make many decisions. “We can only wish them the best of luck in the future,” he explained again.
“I think Ducati will remain strong next year, and I think this is something we have to prove to the fans, that we have made the right decision,” Tardozzi said.
