Jorge Martin Eyes Factory Seat with Ducati Lenovo Team

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Pramac Racing racer Jorge Martin does not deny that apart from aiming for the 2023 MotoGP world title, he is also eyeing a seat on the factory Ducati Lenovo team.

As is known, Martin has been eyeing the factory team seat since last year. However, at that time he was unable to compete with Enea Bastianini, who was still at Gresini Racing, to move up to the factory team.

Now Martin is a challenger for the 2023 world title. He is in second place in the standings behind Francesco Bagnaia with only a difference of three points.

Responding to this, Ducati Corse Sporting Director, Paolo Ciabatti, said that it was natural that Martin really wanted to be in the factory team because that was the desire of all riders.

“I think Jorge Martin is clear, every racer thinks that joining a factory team is an achievement,” said Ciabatti at the Shell event, in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/10/2023.

Actually, on paper, apart from uniforms and money, there is not much change if you move up from Pramac to the factory team. Moreover, Pramac rider contracts generally go directly to Ducati.

The Pramac racer’s motorbikes are more or less the same as the factory, the technicians too, there are seven Ducati technicians at Pramac. The difference is mostly just a matter of pride because he wears Ducati’s proud red racing shirt.

“The money side makes the difference. So, I mean, they are factory team riders and they have the same opportunity. We give them the same opportunity,” he said.
