Losail –
Jorge Martin emerged victorious in Sprint Race MotoGP Qatar 2023. Starting from fifth position, he finished ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio and Luca Marini.
Sprint Race MotoGP Qatar took place at the Losail Circuit, Qatar, Sunday (19/11/2023) early morning WIB. Martin, who started from fifth position, performed well and slowly pushed his way to the front.
Luca Marini only managed to lead a few laps after starting from pole. He ultimately finished third, behind Fabio Di Giannantonio.
Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia who leads the world championship standings finished the race in fifth position.
The Course of the Race
Marini maintained his leading position, followed by Alex Marquez and Jorge Martin after the start. Bagnaia and Marquez then overtook Martin and moved up to position 3-4.
Three riders fell before the first round was completed, namely Enea Bastianini, Aleix Espargaro and Miguel Oliveira. Only Bastianini continued the race.
At the start of the second round, Martin took fourth place from Marquez. Fabio DiGiannantonio followed later. Still on the same lap, Martin and Di Giannantonio passed Bagnaia!
In the third lap, Marc Marquez went wide and slipped to ninth position. Bagnaia started to lag behind the front group containing Marini, Alex Marquez, Martin and Di Giannantonio.
Alex Marquez tried to overtake Marini at the first corner of the fifth lap, but failed. Bagnaia struggled to keep the distance under half a second from Di Giannantonio in fourth position.
Alex Marquez then dropped to fourth position after being passed by Martin and Di Giannantonio. Martin continued his attack on Marini and managed to overtake at the start of the sixth lap. Di Giannantonio turned to pass Marini not long after.
Martin opened the gap to almost half a second on Di Giannantonio with five laps remaining. Meanwhile, Marini is 0.8 seconds ahead of Alex Marquez in fourth position.
Martin managed to maintain his position and withstand the threat of Di Giannantonio for the remainder of the round. Marini completed the three leading podiums, followed by Alex Marquez and Bagnaia.
Maverick Vinales finished sixth. Behind him are Brad Binder, Fabio Quartararo, Augusto Fernandez and Johann Zarco. Marc Marquez had to settle for finishing in 13th position.
