Phillip Island –
Racer Pramac Jorge Martin performed brilliantly in Sessions 2023 Australian MotoGP Qualification. He took the pole and set a new lap record!
Qualifying session at the Phillip Island Circuit, Saturday (21/10/2023) morning WIB, starting from the Q1 session. The top three riders had to start from the bottom, ie Francesco Bagnaia, Marc Marquezand Fabio Quartararo.
In the end, only Bagnaia and Marquez advanced to Q2 to fight for pole position. Meanwhile, Quartararo had to settle for starting from 17th position.
In the Q2 session, Jorge Martin drove his Pramac motorbike fast from the start. Martin was even 0.263 seconds ahead of Brad Binder at the start.
Bagnaia was in fourth place at the start of Q2, followed by Johann Zarco, Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales.
In the remaining five minutes of Q2, Martin continued to maintain his time at the top. Two minutes later, Martin improved his time to 1 minute 27.246 seconds, a new record at Phillip Island!
Binder and Bagnaia also improved their time to remain in the top three. Until the end of qualifying, Martin was unstoppable in winning pole position, followed by Binder and Bagnai.
For Martin this is the third pole in his last five races. Completing the top five positions are Aprilia rider Aleix Espargaro and Martin’s Pramac teammate Johann Zarco.
Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marc Marquez, Jack Miller, Maverick Vinales and Marco Bezzecchi are in sixth to tenth positions.
