Pierre van Hooijdonk, Ibrahim Afellay and René Hake are impressed by Jordy Clasie after Ajax – AZ. The trio saw the captain of the Alkmaarders excel and dominate the midfield in the Johan Cruijff Arena.

AZ won 1-2 against Ajax on Sunday and according to Van Hooijdonk, this certainly also had to do with Clasie’s good performance. “It looked like he was playing with a cigar in his mouth this afternoon,” Pi-Air refers to the calm that Clasie radiated. “Really incredible: he sees through and sees everything. And he is even great in passing.”
Afellay shows using images that the AZ midfielder indeed played a strong game. “He is really the strategist at AZ. The axis is always closed and he takes care of that. He is really the man at AZ, who takes things in tow. AZ didn’t even play that well.”

Hake, who already faced Clasie with his Go Ahead Eagles this season, agrees with his table companions. “If you see how many balls he intercepts, which they want to play between the lines… AZ also concedes very few goal attempts and that has something to do with this, I think.”
