Jordanian Prince Asks Saudi Arabia for Support for King Abdullah II’s Coup

Amman

Court documents Jordan revealed that Prince Hamzah bin Hussein hope to depose King Abdullah II with support Saudi Arabia. This document is still related to the alleged conspiracy to destabilize Jordan’s security.

As reported AFP, Monday (14/6/2021), this was disclosed in the indictment for the two accused accomplices in the conspiracy to destabilize Jordan’s security.

The two defendants include the former head of the Jordanian court, Bassem Awadallah, who also holds Saudi citizenship and the former royal special envoy, Sharif Hassan bin Zaid. Both are said to have close ties to Saudi Arabia.

The two defendants began trial in state security courts at the end of this month, and face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if found guilty.

Prince Hamzah himself, who is the half -brother of King Abdullah II, was not charged in the case.

In April, Prince Hamzah became a house arrest and was accused of being involved in an ‘evil’ plot and a sedition conspiracy to ‘destabilize the security of the Kingdom’.

Jordanian authorities say Prince Hamza’s case has been resolved within the Jordanian royal family, or what is known as the Hashemite.
