A Jordanian Cabinet statement said on Sunday that the country intercepted some flying objects that entered its airspace yesterday evening, Saturday, in order to ensure the safety of its citizens.
The statement said, “Some flying objects that entered our airspace last night were dealt with and confronted to prevent them from endangering the safety of our citizens and residential and populated areas.”
Iran launched explosive drones and missiles at Israel late yesterday evening, Saturday, in its first direct attack on Israel, in response to a strike on its embassy compound in Damascus. The Iranian attack exacerbated fears of the expansion of the conflict in the region.
Two security sources in the region said that it had prepared its air defenses to intercept any drones or missiles that violated its area.
The Jordanian Cabinet statement indicated that “shrapnel fell in multiple places during that time without causing any significant damage or any injuries among citizens.”
Israeli TV Channel 12 reported that American and British fighters participated in shooting down some drones heading towards Israel over the Iraqi-Syrian border area.
