The 32-year-old centre-back was also selected as captain for both games in Germany, but according to Klopp that has no impact on his permanent selection.
– In the run-up, we have made it easy. Virg was number three last year, and therefore he has that responsibility now. In the second half, it’s about who has been at the club the longest, and it’s Joe Gomez, Klopp continued.
A very important choice
There is probably a special atmosphere in the team this summer. Vice-captain Milner and captain Henderson have left the club, and the dressing room has lost two of its main pillars.
