Jordan Henderson Signs with Ajax After Leaving Al-Ettifaq

Ajax confirmed the arrival of Jordan Henderson, who ended his unsuccessful engagement in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ettifaq after six months. The Dutch club will not have to pay a severance fee for the 33-year-old midfielder, whose services they have secured until 2026, as they have agreed to terminate the contract…

The club from Dammam lured Henderson to a lucrative three-year contract, at the end of which the English representative gives up around 20 million euros net per year. Henderson will now have to be significantly humbled, as Ajax’s best-paid players don’t even have a quarter for the season.

“We wanted an experienced midfielder with leadership skills. Due to injuries, we were also looking for someone who would be ready to start immediately. Jordan Henderson is such a player,” coach John van ‘t Schip praises the new acquisition. “His signing means a big increase in quality for our team. On and off the field, a footballer of this caliber is important for many young players. He is an English representative and won the Champions League and many other trophies with Liverpool,” he added.

One of the reasons for Henderson’s departure is said to be the fact that he did not get used to Saudi Arabia. At the same time, his return to Europe will undoubtedly increase his chances of being included in the starting line-up of Albion’s national team for the upcoming European Championship in Germany.
