Jordan, the ninth in the world, approved the emergency use of a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer in the United States and Bioentech in Germany, AFP reported on the 15th.
According to reports, an official from the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) said on the day that “all steps have been completed to approve and license the vaccine for distribution.”
This makes Jordan the ninth country in the world to approve emergency use of the Pfizer vaccine after the United Kingdom, Bahrain, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, the United States, Kuwait and Singapore.
However, JFDA did not specifically say when the Pfizer vaccine will begin.
Earlier, Jordanian Health Minister Nazir Obidat said last month that the Corona 19 vaccine will be distributed free of charge to foreigners as well as Koreans.
In Jordan, with a population of just over 10 million, there are 262,477 cumulative confirmed cases of Corona 19. Of these, 3407 are severely ill.
Meanwhile, JFDA added that a study is underway to approve the use of the COVID-19 vaccine of AstraZeneca, a multinational pharmaceutical company, and Johnson & Johnson (J&J) in the United States.
