Many visitors to the concert of Joost Klein (26) in 013 in Tilburg arrived well in time on Thursday evening. Already an hour before the start there is a queue with many hundreds of people waiting in front of the concert hall in the Brabant city. The hall can accommodate 3,000 people.
According to Omroep Brabant, the first fans were already queuing at the entrance to 013 on Thursday morning. It is Joost’s first performance since he presented the song ‘Europapa’, with which he will represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest this year.
At the request of Joost’s management, all visitors must hand over their smartphones before entering the room. Staff have also received instructions not to use or take out their smartphones in the room. A spokesperson for 013 told ANP that the crowds ‘are not unusual for performances by popular artists. But the concert sold out very quickly. And you notice that everyone is remarkably looking forward to it tonight.’
Joost’s management has not yet officially confirmed that the artist will also perform his song ‘Europapa’. The song is at the top of the charts this week by a wide margin Single Top 100.
Since the Frisian artist shared his entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, a real hype has arisen around the song. Within a short time, the accompanying clip was viewed millions of times on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel. The 26-year-old singer also scored records on Spotify. For example, his Eurovision hit is the most streamed song in the Netherlands in one day. The song is also popular in other countries, such as Germany, Belgium and Austria.
