Joop recently announced in his Instagram Stories that he and Chelsy broke up. He did not say exactly what happened between them. But it was clear that he was very upset about it. “Don’t trust anyone who forces openness and doesn’t do it themselves. (…) My heart has never been kicked so hard. But I understand that if you don’t dare to dream where your life might go, that doubt is a killer.’ He concluded his message with the words ‘Gone with open eyes in front of me’.

Joop also posted a video in which he went into more detail about the breakup, but he removed it fairly quickly after Chelsy asked him to take it offline. Today Joop says that he does regret his actions a bit. “The question has arisen from various media about what happened between me and Chelsy,” he begins his story. The answer is interpreted by some people as adultery. However, this is not the case at all,” he emphasizes.

“My heart was broken because I fell in love with someone who questioned a number of things for a healthy relationship and a happy life. I don’t want to go into details about that because I’m told to ‘keep me private private’. Out of respect for Chelsy and myself, I should have done that too,” he continues.

I can’t say more about it, because although my life is a lot less private anyway since Temptation, I can’t determine for others what that is like. So my apologies for my earlier post. I never wanted to throw shade at Chelsy, or throw shit. It is clear that I should not have been allowed to determine for you where the line should be drawn between private and public. For me, that limit is a lot further away, I should have thought about that before I acted. So again: no one has cheated on you.’
