“Jonquière Hospital Expansion Project to Cost Double the Initially Estimated Price”

The Jonquière hospital expansion and modernization project should cost more than $76 million to complete, which is more than double the initially estimated price.

Awaited for years by the population of the sector, the project took a new step on Friday when Quebec authorized the completion of plans and specifications for the third time since 2018.

But the project will cost much more than expected since it should require more than 76 million dollars, according to estimates by government experts, instead of the 30 million initially announced.

“Yes, indeed, we were surprised when we saw the costs, but what is important to remember is that Minister Christian Dubé also makes it a priority,” said CAQ MP for Jonquière, Yannick Gagnon.

The project must receive the approval of the Council of Ministers once the business plan is completed.

It is still too early to estimate the date of the start of the work, but the deputy promises to follow the evolution of the file very closely.
