Jonathan Christie lose to Kenta Nishimoto in the third semifinal Thomas Cup 2022. Indonesia’s superiority over Japan was trimmed.
In the match at Impact Arena, Bangkok, Friday (13/5/2022) night WIB, Jonathan lost 20-22, 13-21 to Nishimoto after fighting for 57 minutes.
Jonathan always leads from the start of the first game. He entered the interval with a narrow 11-10 advantage.
The competition is still running tight after the interval. One cross smash that Nishimoto failed to return brought Jonathan a 14-13 lead.
Nishimoto then took three straight points to take the lead. The two players continued to follow each other.
Jonathan had time to get game points at 20-19 position through an ambush in front of the net. However, Nishimoto scored three consecutive points to take the first game. The first game belongs to Nishimoto after Jonathan’s smash went wide.
Winning in the first game made Nishimoto more confident in the second game. While Jonathan actually made a lot of mistakes himself.
After winning 11-6 at the interval, Nishimoto continued to advance to an 18-11 lead. Nishimoto finally won the match after his smes failed to be returned by Jonathan.
