Indonesia again lags behind Thailand in Thomas Cup 2020. Jonatan Christie who fell in the third party lost to Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
In the 2020 Thomas Cup Group A match at Ceres Arena, Monday (11/10/2021) night WIB, Jonathan lost two straight games with a score of 10-21, 14-21 to Kunlavut.
Jonathan, who was 4-7 behind in the first game, got close after Kunlavut couldn’t return his smash. Jonathan closed the interval 9-11 down after his return came out.
After the interval, Jonathan lost eight points in a row which left him 9-19. In the end, Jonathan lost in the first game with a score of 10-21.
Jonathan started the second game better. Several times the smash was able to generate points. However, the points for both players are quite tight.
A hard smash from Jonathan gave him a 9-7 advantage. Although Kunlavut was able to snatch three straight points to take the lead, Jonathan responded well to lead 11-10 at the interval.
After the interval, Jonathan’s score stagnated at 14. Meanwhile, Kunlavut won eight points in a row to lead 19-14.
Kunlavut’s quick strike in front of the net gave him the match point. The return that came out of Jonathan finally gave Kunlavut victory.
