The early career of Jonathan Isaac is incredibly frustrating and sad, both for him and for Magic fans. Seriously injured in the knee in early August in the Disney World Resort bubble, Isaac missed the playoffs with his team and it is unfortunately not over. After only being able to participate in 136 matches in 3 years with Orlando, a white season is ahead for the 6th pick of the 2017 Draft.
Magic President Jeff Weltman announced Monday that Jonathan Isaac would miss the entire 2020-2021 season, which is scheduled to be played between December 2020 (in 4 months) and June 2021. The former Florida State player is only 23 years old, but this blow will put the brakes on his progression and will make him total nearly a year and a half without having played the slightest meeting. Others have recovered, but it is an obstacle that we do not wish on anyone.
This also necessarily upsets a little the plans of the Magic, who must manage the probable end of Evan Fournier’s contract and will not have a pick in the lottery this year at the Draft.
Prior to his injury, Jonathan Isaac was one of the league’s most formidable defenders and a solid guarantee that the Magic had plenty to see in the future. While waiting for his comeback, Orlando will for the moment have to deal with Al-Farouq Aminu and the beginner Chuma Okeke on these positions 3 and 4.
