Mexico City. The current champion of the Greek Super League, the club PAOK Salonika FC, officially announced the signing of the Mexican-American player Jonathan Gomez, after agreeing his transfer with the Spanish club Real Sociedad, a team in which he did not play any minutes during matches.
“Real Sociedad would like to thank Jonathan for his efforts and dedication during his time at the blue-and-white club and wishes him the best for his personal and professional future,” the Spanish club said.
The 20-year-old, born in Texas but of Mexican origin, was in the Spanish second division with CD Mirandés for a season where he scored one goal and provided four assists in 39 games, however, Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil did not choose him for the first team, although the club is hoping for his possible return. “Real Sociedad is keeping a return in mind for a possible future transfer,” it said in the statement.
The Greek team is currently competing in the qualifying phase of the Europa League, where Gomez will have international participation to cultivate his sporting talent, in addition to joining the list of national players on the old continent.
Gómez is one of the players wanted by both the Mexican and United States national teams. The left back played friendly matches in youth teams with both teams, but has not yet decided on a team name.
