Indonesian badminton player Jonathan Christie have three main targets in BWF World Tour Finals 2023. One of them he said in a joking tone.
“The target is definitely to perform to the best of your ability to get the best results and get a return on your marriage capital,” said Jonatan to reporters at the PBSI National Training Center, Cipayung.
“But first, we want to maintain last year’s (results), yesterday’s semifinal. Because that affects rankings, points, so it seems like the first target is the semifinals first,” he said.
BWF World Tour Finals 2023 held in Hangzhou, China, on December 13-17. The prize pool has increased from the previous edition, now standing at a total of 2.5 million US dollars.
Two weeks before the 2023 BWF World Tour Finals, Jonathan Christie held a wedding with Shania Junianatha, on December 1 to be precise. On the other hand, marriage did not disturb his commitment to practice.
At the BWF World Tour Finals last year, Jonathan managed to reach the semifinals. He lost to Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, who ultimately lost to Viktor Axelsen in the final. The top four is now Jojo’s minimum target.
In an effort to realize the target in BWF World Tour Finals 2023the 2023 French Open champion continues to step up his preparations. Jonathan Christie even admitted that he was 90 percent fit.
“So far it’s okay, fine, there are no problems whatsoever. It’s already close to 80-90 percent. Just take care of it for the last few days. Hopefully nothing untoward happens, so that when we get there (Hangzhou) we can play optimally,” said the world number 4 player.
