Athlete badminton Indonesia, Jonatan Christie and Shania Junianatha officially engaged on Sunday (26/12).
The happy news was shared on Jonathan and Shanju’s Instagram accounts. In Jonathan and Shanju’s upload, it seems that the two of them held an engagement event.
Both Jonathan and Shanju also did not forget to reply to the congratulations that were present from their colleagues on social media.
Jonathan Christie is one of Indonesia’s leading badminton athletes. Jonathan has joined the PBSI National Training Center in Cipayung since 2013 when he was 16 years old.
Over time, Jonathan grew to be Indonesia’s mainstay in the men’s singles number and entered the ranks of the world’s top players. One of Jonathan’s flashy achievements was when he won the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games which took place in Jakarta.
At that time, Jonathan, who was not included in the seeded list, won the gold medal after defeating Chou Tien-chen with a score of 21-18, 20-22, 21-15 in the final.
This year, Jonathan has an important role in bringing Indonesia to win the 2020 Thomas Cup which will take place in 2021.
After losing to Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the group stage, Jonathan continued to contribute points for Indonesia in duels against Taiwan, Malaysia, Denmark, and China.
In the duel against China in the final, Jonathan’s victory over Li Shi Feng ensured that Indonesia beat China with a score of 3-0 while winning the Thomas Cup.
Indonesia’s victory in the 2020 Thomas Cup in 2021 ended the title drought after Indonesia last won the Thomas Cup in 2002.
