Jonah Hill would have forbidden his ex-girlfriend Sarah Brady to post certain photos and asked her to break off friendships. Brady says the American actor emotionally abused her. What is going on?
Hill (39) and Brady, fourteen years his junior, will announce in August 2021 that they are in a relationship. The actor and the professional surfer go to movie premieres together and regularly post pictures of each other on social media.
The couple will separate in 2022. Hill doesn’t stay single for long. The Wolf of Wall Streetactor starts a new relationship with store owner Olivia Millar. The two recently welcomed their first child.
Although Brady and Hill have been separated for a while, the surfer decides to open up about her relationship this week. In her Instagram Stories, she shares screenshots of chat conversations she had with the actor at the time.
The reports don’t exactly make Hill look good. For example, the conversations are about photos that Brady posts on Instagram during that time. “Do you want to remove the photos that show your buttocks in a thong?”, the actor is said to have asked his girlfriend at the time. She also has to remove other photos in which Brady poses in a swimsuit from her then boyfriend.
Another chat conversation between the two is about Brady’s friendships. Hill has something to say about that too. For example, he says he does not like that she surfs with men. Furthermore, he does not want his girlfriend to spend time with women “who are in an unstable period of their lives”.
In his messages, Hill takes a pedantic, harsh and sometimes sarcastic tone. He tells Brady that “she’s doing a good job” by deleting the photos, but “she doesn’t seem to get why he’s asking this”. “In any case, I have clearly indicated my limits,” says the actor. “You’re not the right one for me if you don’t respect it.”
He seems to want to give his words some lightness again by saying “I support you, no hard feelings”.

Brady is now sharing these screenshots to warn other women. “If your partner behaves this way, end the relationship,” says the surfer. From photos Brady previously posted to Instagram showing her with Hill, she has edited the caption. “This is a misogynist (a misogynist man, ed.)”, she writes.
Hill has not yet responded to his ex’s messages. Meanwhile, the screenshots are going viral and are widely shared on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
And that produces different reactions. There are many people who indeed find Hill misogynistic and manipulative.
Others think it’s good for the actor to indicate his boundaries within his relationship. These messages often come from the conservative corner, or, for example, from fans of the controversial influencer Andrew Tate. The kickboxer suspected of human trafficking is known for his very misogynistic statements.
Brady accuses Hill of emotional abuse. Hill in particular has spoken out several times about the importance of mental health. For example, he said last August that he is taking a step back in promoting his films. “I’ve had panic attacks for years,” said the actor. “They are caused by my media appearances and other events with an audience.”
With her messages, Brady says she wants to help women, but she also thinks this is good for herself. “Keeping this to myself is not good. Like Jonah, I struggle with my mental health, but at least I don’t use it to manipulate people.”
