The carpenters’ guild in Würzburg-Kitzingen acquitted a very strong year with 26 bachelors. Obermeister Hermann Lang from Ochsenfurt thanked the young carpenters who, after the six-week closure of the vocational training center due to the corona pandemic, worked together with the training masters Frank Weimer and Otto Hörner in a responsible manner in preparing for the exams. One downer remains: no acquittal ceremony, no gossip, despite a fit carpenter, according to the press release of the guild.
The next generation is urgently needed in the industry. “We have work and we are allowed to work. You could overturn, there is so much to do,” Lang is quoted as saying. The fact that they mainly work outdoors is an advantage for the carpenters at Corona. Lang is therefore optimistic about the future.
Some of the training companies stand out due to their special commitment. With a total of three young carpenter, namely two bachelors and one bachelorette, the Geiger carpentry from Veitshöchheim trumps. Two bachelors each finished their training at the carpentry workshops Wagenbrenner in Kleinrinderfeld and Weckbart in Estenfeld, which regularly take two to three trainees per year.
The bosses of the latter, Michael and Marco Weckbart, can not only look forward to the 90th anniversary of their carpentry in the fourth generation this year – one of the oldest companies in the area. This time the winner of the carpenters’ guild also comes from their company: 21-year-old Jona Bauer with an average grade of 1.8. He has now earned a year off, as he thinks. Then he would like to work again in the company as a carpenter and possibly attend the master’s school later.
