Now it is confirmed.

Two-time major winner Jon Rahm, 29, announces he is leaving the PGA Tour for the LIV Tour.

– It was a good offer, says Rahm.

Rahm confirmed it himself in an interview with Fox News. The Spanish world number three has been the subject of rumors of late but now it is official that he is leaving the PGA Tour – becoming the highest-ranked player to join the Saudi-backed LIV Tour.

– I hope that the friends I have made continue to be my friends, because I will not change, he says to Fox.

Does not comment on sums

The Telegraph has previously reported that the contract is worth around 560 million dollars, around six billion kroner.

– I can’t comment on that and I don’t want to. It is private and it will stay private, says Rahm.

The decision is something of a reversal for Rahm who has previously stated that he has not been interested in the LIV tour. He has previously said that he does not like the format of the tour.

– I want to play against the best in the world in a format that has existed for over a hundred years, he said in 2022 and he also said that the money that is in LIV golf had not changed his lifestyle.

“The money is of course fantastic”

But now he switches to LIV after all.

– It was a good offer. The money is of course fantastic. But what I said before is true, I don’t play golf for the money, I play for the love of the sport. But as a husband, father and family man, I have a responsibility to my family to give them the best opportunities and as many resources as possible. It’s clear that it’s an important factor, but there’s a lot of other things that make it exciting, Rahm tells Fox News and talks about playing more in teams is something that attracts a lot.

Rahm won the US Masters major this spring and has also won the US Open in 2021. He has eleven titles on the PGA Tour and ten on the European Tour.
