With AEW bringing the wrestling world together in a way no one thought possible before, discussions about their collaboration with WWE have intensified recently.
Kenny Omega recently told talkSPORT that he would fight tooth and nail to get there if possible.
Jon Moxley is arguably AEW’s biggest star
Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes and owner Tony Khan echoed similar sentiments. All of a sudden it becomes a hot topic whether it looms or not.
Jon Moxley, however, is not so excited about the prospect.
Speaking to Inside The Ropes, Moxley just doesn’t see it come to fruition.
“It would never happen. It’s not even worth wasting mental energy on… You know. I mean, if you want a fantastic book, some cool shit.
“You know, maybe you could book it in a fantastic way for, like, a fun magazine, stuff.” You know, like back then, in magazines, you always had, like “Dream match.” Bill Goldberg vs. Steve Austin, ‘in ’98. But that’s not going to happen.
Jon Moxley in AEW is Much Different from Dean Ambrose in WWE
Moxley thinks it would be cool if they could play some dream games in Japan between promotions, but he just thinks WWE will stay in its own bubble.
“It would be cool to think of the cool shit that could happen, you know, like a big summit at Tokyo Dome, AEW, NJPW, WWE or some shit, but it’s not gonna happen. So, you know, they do their thing. They stay there.
Given how desperate and miserable Moxley was at the end of his WWE career as Dean Ambrose, it’s no surprise that he didn’t claim to work with them again in any capacity.
Creatively, Moxley felt he needed to escape WWE and he flourished being himself at AEW. Moxley was PWI’s number one male wrestler in 2020.
He also has a chance to win back Kenny Omega’s AEW Championship on March 7 as they face off in an explosive deathmatch. It’s just not something he could have even conceived of in WWE.
