Los Angeles (dpa) – “Iron Man” director Jon Favreau (57) is returning to the “Star Wars” universe. The “Star Wars” producers announced on the film website that Favreau will begin filming “The Mandalorian & Grogu” this year. “I love telling stories set in the rich world created by George Lucas,” Favreau said in a statement.
This would be the first feature film from the Star Warrior world since “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” (2019), which was directed by JJ Abrams. With “The Mandalorian” on the Disney+ streaming service, Favreau had already created a “Star Wars” television series as an inventor, author and producer. In it, Pedro Pascal plays the eponymous bounty hunter, alongside Grogu, known as “Baby Yoda”. As a producer, Favreau also worked on the “Star Wars” series “Ahsoka” with leading actress Rosario Dawson.
