Jokowi’s Sign of Non-Commitment – FAJAR

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) did not mention his commitment to eradicating corruption in his state speech on the 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (RI).

The head of state only expressed his gratitude to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), as well as other state institutions which were considered to remain in synergy in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Balance and mutual control between state institutions is very important in our state administration system. But cooperation, synergy, and willingness to share burdens and responsibilities are even more important in dealing with the pandemic,” said Jokowi in his state speech at the Parliament Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (16/8).

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to state institutions, as well as to Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority, the Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Corruption Eradication Commission, and the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia, including the General Elections Commission and the General Elections Supervisory Agency, for their generous support. consistent and productive so far,” he continued.

The commitment to eradicating corruption in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic in the era of President Jokowi was then questioned by anti-corruption activists. One of them, Erwin Natosmal Oemar. He questioned Jokowi’s attitude which did not mention his commitment to eradicating corruption.

“Not including the issue of eradicating corruption in this speech is a clear signal of Jokowi’s non-commitment in eradicating corruption,” Erwin told JawaPos.com, Monday (18/6).

This judicial observer does not deny that there are currently many problems related to the commitment to eradicating corruption in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Another issue is related to the institutional status of the KPK and the transfer of the status of JPK employees which is still being debated.
