Jokowi’s Response to the Worst Corruption Index During Reform: So Correction

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

President Joko Widodo promise to make corruption perception index (GPA) as material for evaluating policies in the field of corruption eradication.

This followed Indonesia’s GPA which fell to 34. This score was Indonesia’s lowest achievement in the reform era.

“Yes, that will be our joint evaluation and correction,” Jokowi said at the Baturiti Market, Tabanan, Thursday (2/2).

Separately, the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said he was hit by this achievement.

He admits that he is not surprised that Indonesia’s GPA has fallen. He said this was caused by the large number of officials who were caught up in corruption cases through the OTT KPK.

“This is the worst since the reformation,” Mahfud said at the 2023 Lemhannas RI Rapim at the Lemhannas Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (1/2).

GPA is published by Transparency International Indonesia (TII) every year. In the 2022 GPA released this week, Indonesia scored 34.

This figure is down four points from Indonesia’s 2021 GPA. Indonesia ranks 110th, down 14 levels from the previous year.

Indonesia’s GPA lost to a number of neighboring countries. In 2022, Singapore has a GPA of 83, Malaysia 47, Timor Leste 42, Vietnam 42 and Thailand 36.
